Roof Leak & Roof Problems (Safe Checks Only)

RoofTroubleshooter helps you identify what a roof symptom usually means and what you can safely check first — without climbing on the roof or doing repairs.

Safety first (please read)

We do not recommend climbing on roofs for diagnosis. Falls are a leading cause of serious injury in construction and roof work is high-risk. If you suspect an active leak, structural weakness, or unsafe conditions, contact a qualified professional.

If you’re not sure where to start

  1. Where do you see the water? (ceiling stain, wall stain, around chimney/skylight, near vent/fan, window area)
  2. When does it happen? (only heavy rain, only wind-driven rain, after storms, during long rains, after rain stops)
  3. Do you have attic access? If yes, you can do a safe visual check from inside (no stepping on wet/weak areas).
  4. Is there any electrical risk? If water is near light fixtures/outlets, treat as urgent and get a pro.
